VISU Greenline+ is an unprecedented operating system for fume cupboards. It is an innovation that revolutionizes the energy efficiency of fume cupboards and sets user safety to a completely new level.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE CHALLENGES OF USING FUME CUPBOARDS
- Many times the sash of the fume cupboard is left open at the end of the day, which increases the energy consumption many times over.
- The sash is unnecessarily high when working, because the user cannot visually detect the limits of safe working or energy consumption, making it practically impossible to react to the issue with current technology.
- Users change, and agreed practices tend to be forgotten. A matter is not considered important if its importance cannot be perceived.
- Occasionally, the work carried out inside the fume cupboard involves a higher level of risk and requires increased protective airflow.
- Operating the sash manually increases the risk contamination
General presentation of the solution
Greenline+ offers offers a new approach to fume cupboard user interfaces, guiding and assisting users in operating the sash correctly and safely. Learning happens along with use and doesn’t require any additional training.
Utilizing Greenline+ provides direct benefits in both improved user safety and energy saving. The benefits start immediately after the first use and are permanent. The glowing colour light guide is visible to the user in the side profile of the fume cupboard.
Greenline+ consists of four main components and their intelligent integration into the VISU fume cupboard and the Fanison control system. The four core components of the interface are:
- FlowRateSelect
- AutoOpen
- AutoClose
- VisualGuide

Auto Open
With AutoOpen functionality, the fume cupboard sash opens automatically to the standard working height. This allows work to begin without contamination risk and without touching the sash.
The AutoOpen function is activated by the light curtain located beneath the sash. If desired, AutoOpen can also be disabled for individual fume cupboards.
During use, the sash can be adjusted touch‑free, for example, raised higher within the limits of safe airflow. The automation returns the sash to the working height once the additional height is not needed anymore.
AutoClose
The sash of the fume cupboard closes automatically when the fume cupboard is not in use. In this case, energy is saved, as the air flow of the sash opening is correspondingly reduced.
The AutoClose function starts based on the presence sensor, and the delay of the function is adjustable. The user can disable the feature if desired. The sash is equipped with a sensor that detects an obstacle, so automatic descent does not cause danger to the user.
The sash is operated by hand, and due to the innovative structure, this is particularly light and pleasant.
VisualGuide
The vertical sliding profile of the fume cupboard has informative visual guidance, which increases user safety and guides the user to save energy. When moving the fume cupboard sash, the side light guides the user to place the sash to a safe level. The system is intelligent and can predict the adequacy of the air flow and refine the estimate based on possible changes.
Colour explanations:
- Green = Normal – Recommended working height of the sash. The air flow is sufficient to protect the user and also energy efficient, because the sash is only moderately open.
- Yellow = Caution – The sash is open more than recommended, which consumes more energy. However, the airflow is sufficient to protect the user.
- Red = Alarm – The air flow is not sufficient to protect the user.
- For users with color vision deficiency, the status information is also reported on the system screen and with audio alarms.

FlowRateSelect
FlowRateSelect further enhances user safety while also increasing the versatility of the fume cupboard.
Alongside with the normal mode, two other options are available: Boost and Eco. The colour of the side light indicates the currently selected airflow mode.
Purple = Boost — increased airflow for demanding work. The extraction setpoint and alarm threshold are raised by 40%. The boosted airflow consumes more extraction capacity and may therefore affect the performance of other fume cupboards.
Yellow = Eco — reduced airflow. The extraction setpoint and alarm threshold are lowered by 20%. This airflow level is ideal for low‑hazard work, allowing extraction capacity to be allocated to other fume cupboards. Even at the reduced airflow level, the system maintains user safety and ensures adequate protection.

Colour display – provides clear information on the airflow status. It shows explanations and states of the button functions, alerts for airflow deviations, and any required maintenance notifications.
In normal use, a separate user manual is not required.

Airflow Increase – when you press and hold the button longer, you can switch between Normal and Boost modes. With a short press, the button functions as an emergency purge, setting the airflow to full power.

Airflow Reduction – when you press and hold the button longer, you can switch between Normal and Eco modes. A short press activates the minimum‑airflow function, which can be used, for example, while constructing installations inside the fume cupboard.

Audio alarm muting – the visual airflow alarm is displayed on the screen and in the side light. The alarm clears automatically once the airflow has returned to a safe level.

Select between AutoOpen&Close, AutoClose only or temporary suspension of sash automation button control.

The fume cupboard light can be set to operate according to the sash position. When the sash is closed, the light switches off automatically. The light can also be controlled manually via the button. The brightness of the high‑efficiency LED lighting system is adjustable.
